Saving money while unemployed: Cable bills and Student loans deferment

Unemployed ? Student loans? Economic Hardship deferment on your student loan

If you are currently not employed, here is what I would do.

First off, I would  place the student loan in forbearance. I would call the student loan holder to request this forbearance for a year. You will have to pay interest on the deferment but at the very least, it will be one less bill to worry about.

Next point,  I would cut down on that cable bill, yes it might be difficult but you know what? I  will save a whole lot; if cable is a must, I would request to have the most basic cable channels, I am talking about the 16.95- 20 dollar monthly bill.

You can always watch your favorite show clips and actual full length shows online through sites including  http://www.hulu.com and of course you tube, so I would definitely keep the internet access.

I would also attend free or really cheap business seminars, I am talking about $5 seminars at the small business centers, who knows this might be the way to getting out there and maybe starting a business.

The most important thing though is to get out there keep busy and network with others that share the same interests; groups can be found on meetup.com sites and usually joining is free.

Got any tips to share? Whats is your story?
